Bush's Grievance
by David S. Broder
In gauging the momentous choice President Bush must make in choosing a successor to Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, it is tempting to suppose that his highest priority will be satisfying the conservative interest groups that were unhappy with her rulings on abortion, affirmative action, sodomy and other social issues.
The Judge for Me
by Richard Cohen
Over the July 4 weekend, I went to a party -- the usual gaggle of politically obsessed Beltway types -- where I knew I would be asked who I thought should succeed Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court. Rove Tied To Time's Cooper, NYT Reporter Goes To Jail
Karl Rove again linked to outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame by Isikoff+Goodman+Wilson
On Friday, Political commentator Lawrence O'Donnell announced that Mathew Cooper's notes and e-mails, released last week by Time, would show Karl Rove was the source behind the public outing of CIA operative Valerie Plame. Also, this weekend, Newsweek investigative reporter, Michael Isikoff wrote that the documents showed that Rove was one of Cooper's sources. He also writes that Rove's lawyer, Robert Luskin confirms that Rove talked to Cooper but insists that Rove "never knowingly disclosed classified information" and "did not tell any reporter that Valerie Plame worked for the CIA."A Identity." During the interview, Wilson said again that he had information that Karl Rove was involved in the outing of his wife as an undercover CIA agent.

"It's with a bit of surprise and no small amount of relief that I will comply with this subpoena."...In his statement in court, Mr. Cooper did not name Mr. Rove as the source about whom he would now testify, but the person who was briefed on the case said that he was referring to Mr. Rove...Mr. Cooper's decision to drop his refusal to testify followed discussions on Wednesday morning among lawyers representing Mr. Cooper and Karl Rove, the senior White House political adviser, according to a person who has been officially briefed on the case."
